KEY POINTS FOR USFA MEMBERS

  1. By arranging your travel with United Airlines, a sponsor of the USFA, USFA members receive discounts on airfares.  Simply call the United Olympic Travel Desk at 1-800-841-0460 for all your travel needs, and specify "Fencing".  Every time you fly with United, you support our sponsor and save money.

  2. Carefully review the "Data Form" provided for accuracy of our data base record - ratings, division, mailing address, school, etc.  Note any changes and return to the USFA office.  Failure to notify USFA office of changes to club or division could affect qualification to J.O.'s and summer nationals.

  3. When entering any competition, or in communication with the office, please use your membership number and name as shown on your USFA membership card.

  4. Only Life, Senior, Family Competitor, Coast Competitor, Veteran, or Junior members can compete in USFA National Tournaments, including Championships.

  5. Contact the USFA office for entry forms for North American Cup (NAC) tournaments, Junior Olympic Championships, and the National Championships.  Each of these tournament categories has its own entry form.

  6. All members will receive, on a quarterly basis, the "American Fencing" Magazine and the "National Newsletter", except in the case of Family membership, where only one copy will be sent.

  7. Students, please keep us informed of your current address status - your school address when you return to school & your home address at the end of the school year.

AGE STANDARDS FOR THE 2000-2001 SEASON

 

Division I

Born 1987 or earlier unless on the current Junior point standings AND must have “D” or higher classification at entry deadline.

Division II

Born 1987 or earlier unless on the current Junior point standings AND must have “C” or lower classification at entry deadline.

Division III

Born 1987 or earlier unless on the current Junior point standings AND must have “D” or lower classification at entry deadline.

Veteran

Must be born 1960 or earlier.

Junior

Fencers must be born between 1981-1987.  Younger age if on current cadet standings.  For 2001 Summer Nationals fencer must be born between 1982-1988; younger age if on cadet standings on April 15, 2001.

Cadet

Fencers must be born between 1984-1987.  Younger age if on current Y14 standings.  For 2001 Summer Nationals fencer must be born between 1985-1988; younger age if on Youth 14 standings on April 15, 2001.

Youth 14

Fencers must be born between 1986-1989.  Younger age if on current Y12 standings; same for 2001 Summer Nationals.

Youth 12

Fencers must be born between 1988-1991.  Younger age if on current Y10 standings; same for 2001 Summer Nationals.  Summer Nationals Y12 events are open to all who meet age criteria (no qualifying event required).

Youth 10

Fencers must be born between 1990-1993.  Same for 2001 Summer Nationals.  Summer Nationals Y10 events are open to all who meet age criteria (no qualifying event required).

 

Age standards based on international rules which state age cutoff as of 1 January 2001 for 2000-2001 season.
